let's get this straight and lock the thread: The Vinyls are re-used in PS and UC, those designs are famous and BB wanted to let players have fun re-making the old cars. AI drivers get their designs by either RANDOMLY combining different parts or Doing certain modifications based on a template. IT'S NOT A FUCKING EASTER EGG

If this counts the PS2 version of Pro Street Widebody uses the BMW M3 E46 DTM Kit with different front engine. While the other versions uses the GTR E46 kit. But the liveries are identical in both sixth and seventh gen consoles.

the prostreet one has a version of it without aftermarket decals
the 350z challenge series vinyl from carbon is reused in prostreet with aftermarket decals on top of it. Many logos / vinyls are reused between games just because it saves time :p

The same way you could say that Eddie's Challenge in NFS2015 is also an easter egg. i still belive its an easteregg, its makes all the sence to be one - a rare hero livery in a BB game, similiar when they it in NFSMW 2012, The Run, NFS2015 and some in NFS World, the liverys are there to make a reference, not to create a time line. Eddie's Challenge was different, they mention him, he talked, thats different than just a random livery

I suppose it's more of a 'nod' to the M3 GTR than an easter egg

An Easter egg is something in a game that is hidden and requires finding, a keen observation or doing a specific task for it to be seen. Hence, the name "Easter egg". That's all to it for the definition of Easter eggs in video games.
Since you don't need to deliberately "find" the BMW or do something to see it and is there in plain sight, it's technically not an Easter egg.

Both cars on your screenshot use the same vinyl, which you can actually use yourself (it's in manufacturer-specific vinyls section and is called "Body 2", iirc). It really is an inaccurate replica of MW M3 GTR livery.
