looks too soft light-ish to be carbon all lights in carbon are hardcoded afaik, and by that i mean if you removed the lamp asset, there would be still a bright spot on the road, (or a building nearby) because its just an overlay on the asphalt. Trackmania community calls those kind of shadows "bre-baked". the asphalt itself never reflects the light thats coming from the light bulb, only the car's body and glass does. The shadows of the car are just black textures projected vertically down on the surface, no special shadow calculation going on. same with the headlights, but that one illuminates the surfaces instead of darkening them. all those shadows are sharp, but at the same time inaccurate and low quality. there were no other options of making smooth shading back in 2006. the new canyon screen looks too nice to be in carbon. whats so wrong about it being legit? its just a cnacelled project anyway, and we'll never get to drive it anyway tell you what 2010, the date when this supposedly appeared, is closer to 2006, carbon, than to 2015 no chances of driving at all the lights arent "hardcoded" as such. they are light entities. the lighting is not baked into the textures at all. infact the lighting is pretty decent in carbon as they also have normalmaps on the road(make the light interact with the bumps in the road) theoretically if you found what light entities look like inside the track.bins then you can move them/change the colour and intensity

I should add, even though this topic is old, there was something related to OOL glitching in World WAYY, WAYYY back and someone actually found this Canyon in the game. Someone tried to replicate that but had no luck.

Someone tried to replicate that but had no luck. I doubt it.There were some canyon roads in minimap which could be seen via OOL glitch long ago but that was removed. (copy paste from Carbon?) That's the most "notable" thing the old devs did about canyons lol There are also a few canyon or mountain 3D models in north of Petersburg Bridge (Hwy 142) but that probably doesn't count.

It was a long time since I watched the videos, so it doesn't all come to mind that fast. Anyways, the I think I just found the answer... Skip to 0:15 or 0:20, something like that. Those are the canyon drift start scenes, doesn't the lighing in the ones played back ingame look kind of, similar? You can just add some lighting effects, extra detail and different textures in photoshop. So this may be a fake.

I dunno. It seems more purple at the start, then it's more yellowish. Might be just me. But everything exept the lens flare, texture quality and how soft the lighting is are the same as the actual canyon in Carbon. Probably just used Camhack, replaced textures and a little photoshop.

Quoting from a thread in NFSW forum;
Nvm, i just saw Laser's post Might be just me. But everything exept the lens flare, texture quality and how soft the lighting is are the same as the actual canyon in Carbon. Probably just used Camhack, replaced textures and a little photoshop. It's not a camhack though

Since evidence saying canyon tracks atleast got tested im going to say that this is finished and mark it as public.
the image cannot be confirmed as true but the canyons can be proved to at least of been tested

And EA could have just easily removed the area in an update that would have been required for the game to work. So there is absolutley no way to prove this. R.I.P

IF it was actually implemented in any way, we can find the approximate date of this pic's release/leak date and try to get a build from around that time and look through files
