they didn't record car sounds afaik. they got car sounds from buying them from some place. quite a few of the sounds are exactly the same as the ones heard in fast n furious movies. some even have "2f2f" in their name.
the ferrari sound in underground 2 is used for the rx8 afaik.
all* of the sounds are compatible with mw / carbon if you want to move them over and then edit some vlt's to hear them
*all of them work but some of them crash due to shift pattern changes?
oh yeah most of the sounds are just renamed in future games while being the exact same. for carbon they did separate the exhausts and engine sounds though.

How it sounds when it didnt applied to car? Just an idling sound of a car and then goes up and down following the gas and brake press?

Yeah I agree with you here, for example the guy who calls you up in after you first start the game that guy who calls you while he's driving is driving that signature Blue and Yellow R34 and while he's talking you can hear the pretty much the exact sound of the 2Fast 2Furious R34. Also in Most Wanted when you first enter Rockport and then you follow Mia in her RX8 when the camera cuts to the front of the car and it uses the EXACT sound of Brian's Mitsubishi Evo 7. If I can find the place where you buy those sounds i'd be listening all day long lmao ( at 2:55)

There are engine GIN and abk decoder from zenhax.com/viewtopic.php?t=1567 . Using that and all-sounds+upgrade video, I managed to list and also correct mentioned ones. No GIN or Decel/DCL (de-acceleration) in title. I've listened the others I haven't touched. ● 350Z_Jason_shrt2 --> st.2, st. 3 350Z and G35; st.1 Skyline R34; st.2 IS300 and Supra ●Mustang_Drag --> st.3 Hummer; st.1,st. 2 GTO and Mustang ●Mustang_Nscr_COMP --> used with Mustang Drag for St.3 GTO and Mustang. De-acceleration gin is NASCAR_DCL. ●WRX STi street --> st1 WRX. Keep in mind that WRX still uses GIN_WRX_STi (aka its stock sound) for every upgrade sound. (%70 sure though) ●2F2F WRX --> St.2 and final st. WRX ●S2000 5zigen and spliced --> used for RSX st.1 and Civic st.2. As I mentioned before, 2F2F S2000 is it's decel gin. ●G35 --> stock Infinti G35
ST1 made a mistake of counting some as leftovers in his UG2 beta vid. They are used, also with different sounds. I didn't list what other cars used the listed gins as they're hard to hear and I'm exhausted. So UG2 play these sounds altogether for the player vehicle. No engine sound exist in folders other than ENGINE.

Also, found out that the 65 Pontiac GTO and BMW 450i sounds in mw are just the same sounds as the Nascar Mustang, and there is also an upgraded, higher pitch version of the DB9 sound...

youre welcome and thx for info. Be sure to create a thread for mw sounds or update the main beta post. to add, GWv3 and v4 use gin as ECU maps, so i dont know how to play audio.

I didn't see this one mentioned anywhere above so I'll mention it here. About the Skyline sound from 2F2F... here it is Skip to about 0:55 and he starts doing the upgrades then skip to where he drives to hear the sound. What sound file is used for that then?

It sounds very similar, but isn't really the same. I don't think it's something new either. One can simply not install the exhaust-related parts or keep the stock engine to get this sound. One of the exhaust upgrades can also make the Skyline sound like a 350z.

Okay, so I looked at a few files myself and found that the sound file appropriately named GIN_Nissan_Skyline.gin is the sound close to the 2Fast 2Furious R34 and that the s2000_2f2f sound is actually the sound they use for Brian's Evo 7 when its decelerating and i'll update after looking at some more.

The caval gins refer to the chrevrolet cavalier. Juat found the sound label chr_caval in mw with vlted.

I found something interesting in "ENGINE" folder. "GIN_Bronco", "GIN_Ferrari_360", GIN_Cavel","..._300ZX", "...Honda_Prelude", "...Honda_S2000", "... Porsche_Cayenne", "... VW_Jetta", "... VW_Scirocco" are some to name cars foreign to the game's selection. Are they leftovers belonging to cut cars or used in game? I could not open the files nor find a file viewer/media player. ---------- How to find them: 1)Click "Program files (x86)" 2)Then "EA GAMES" 3)Then "Need for Speed 2" 4)Then "SOUND" 5)Open "ENGINE" and you're done. - Ferrari 360 is used for high level engine tuned cars, like the rx8 and skyline. i really hate this sound.. - 300ZX (Nissan) is used for level 1-2 engine tuned Eclipse GT in MW and Carbon. This sound is useless in UG2 - VW Jetta is used for some cars in MW. - Honda S2000 is used on many cars, and it was used as an alternative of Lancer Evo sound. - Honda Prelude is used for some slower tuner cars or when they're tuned, but not so many cars is using this sound. Also, i've read some info about GIN file extension in the internet: GIN stands for GEMS Engine Control Unit File. GIN files are used by GWv4 to determine the memory map, options, parameters, tables and maps available in an ECU.The Nissan 300ZX sound is also the one from ps2 beta 350Z
