I found something interesting in "ENGINE" folder. "GIN_Bronco", "GIN_Ferrari_360", GIN_Cavel","..._300ZX", "...Honda_Prelude", "...Honda_S2000", "... Porsche_Cayenne", "... VW_Jetta", "... VW_Scirocco" are some to name cars foreign to the game's selection. Are they leftovers belonging to cut cars or used in game? I could not open the files nor find a file viewer/media player. ---------- How to find them: 1)Click "Program files (x86)" 2)Then "EA GAMES" 3)Then "Need for Speed 2" 4)Then "SOUND" 5)Open "ENGINE" and you're done.

That Cayenne got my eye.
There was something about a Cayenne in MW as well. This could mean that it wasn't simply a mistake (Cayenne instead of Cayman, as some thought) if it's present in UG2 as well.
Beside this, there are some cut cars like the S2000 which was likely replaced by the RX-8, but I'm not sure what's up with some, such as the Ferrari, as UG2 is heavily focused on tuners & customization, not exotics. It's really out of place.
The rest might be just that, cars which were considered up until some point in development, and then cut. Some seem to have made it up until the mid-late development stage, as they have quite a number of files, particularly the S2000.
I wonder if they can be listened somehow, I'd love to hear what's inside.

The engine sounds of other vehicles are often reused for another in game and/or leftovers from past iterations where they're not removed. I'm not sure which vehicles are used with each other in particular but I have a feeling the Cayenne was for SUVS. And things like supers COULD of been used for fully upgraded vehicles like the Skyline.

Random thing but related to engine sounds: Damn the Subaru Impreza's engine whine sounds really really familiar... Especially when fully upgraded. It sounds like one of those Porsche engines.

Look up EAGL on wiki, and you'll probably know why there's a Cayenne...
NFS -> EAGL -> James Bond games using EAGL -> James Bond IGCD listings -> -> James Bond Everything or nothing -> Cayenne.
There's also a Cayenne in Shox (which lists EAC tools in the credits) and NFS:Top Speed.

You could make a video of the sounds after finishing your other projects.

You could make a video of the sounds after finishing your other projects. I already had it in my Underground 2 All Removed Content script. Although i will ofcourse mention the possibility of alot of sounds just being leftovers.

This sound is useless in UG2 - VW Jetta is used for some cars in MW. - Honda S2000 is used on many cars, and it was used as an alternative of Lancer Evo sound. - Honda Prelude is used for some slower tuner cars or when they're tuned, but not so many cars is using this sound. Also, i've read some info about GIN file extension in the internet: GIN stands for GEMS Engine Control Unit File. GIN files are used by GWv4 to determine the memory map, options, parameters, tables and maps available in an ECU.

Ford Bronco -- Level 2 SUV Engine VW Jetta -- Hyundai Tiburon stock sound VW Cabriolet -- modified for use as stock engine for A3 and Golf VW Scriccoco -- modified for use as level 2 eng for A3, Golf Cayenne -- modified for stock eng of Navigator, Escalade Ferrari 360 -- y'know Mazda Protege -- I guess this was used alongside the Prelude sound for fully tuned RSX and 240SX Honda Prelude -- aforementioned, but anyway: It got used for fully tuned RSX and 240 Ford Mustang Saleen -- already obivious: used as stock for Mustang and GTO. Serves as 3 level upgrade for SUVs. S2000 -- nismo explains it. Nascar -- sounds similar to level 4 GTO and Mustang. Guess it was modified. 300ZX -- tuned Eclipse (not that sure)

For S2000, I watched several vi. and even a compilation of S2000 sounds and some in-game upgrade sounds does resemble tuned ones. I'll have search for a GIN player.

In the first video some of the Hondas (the one at 0:08 for instance) sound like a stock RX-8 or RX-7.

What car is the sound for the IS200 at 21:54? It sounds like the R34 from 2Fast 2Furious... I know that sound too well... What car is it/the sound file if they supposedly didn't use an R34 for the recording?

If there's a video where they recorded car sounds, that could explain some things.
