Hello all, Since today is the big day of NFS Payback's full release, I thought we'd take a look back at how the game looked when it was earlier in development. We'll be looking at teasers, trailers, screenshots and more. Let's start! First, let's look at the earliest images of the game... The first two were part of a "Under the Hood" segment on the NFS website, shown on May 9, 2017. The last one is a teaser from the day before the game's reveal. The first two images don't have a huge amount of interesting things surprisingly, but the only thing is that I don't know if that Motel Vacancy sign is still in the game. It may have just been used for the teaser, as the sign below it says "June 2nd", the day of the game's reveal. You can't make out much in the last image, but you can see that the Skyline in the picture still uses the California plate from NFS 2015. Now let's look at the reveal trailer... The most noticeable thing here is that the dialogue sounds different here (some dialogue in here was completely removed as well). Now we'll look at the E3 demo... As you can see, it uses an early version of the "Highway Heist" mission. Differences: Different HUD (used until shorty after Gamescom) Plate on Mustang says "PAYBCK" rather than "PAYBACK" Takedowns seem easier Some removed dialogue Game had more of an orange-ish filter Wing on Koenigsegg was deployed when exiting truck, also had a different engine sound Different character switch icons Ending of the mission was different (although it could've just been used for E3) Next we'll look at the customization trailer... Differences: Different REP UI (looks similar to NFS 2015) Checkpoints and the finish line looked different. Slightly different customization UI. Speed Cards look different. A cut car appears in this trailer as well- the 2016 BMW M4 (was cut in favor of the M4 GTS) That's all of the early stuff that I could really point out. If I missed anything, or if someone finds something else, feel free to add it to this thread.

Some stuff about Payback. I have not seen that hotel vacancy sign anywhere in my 8 days of playing the game, it would either be cut content, or promotional material that never existed in the game.

Maybe check east? Look for some sort of a motel building.

Jess' hairstyle from the beta actually looks nice I assume it was changed due to being buggy because there are individual patches of hair with physics involved.

I do not remember Jess saying that. I do however, always remembered that Mac was the "Showman", because he is, according to the game, style focused and an offroad savant.

Jess asks Mac in the reveal trailer “Hey Mac, you built this all yourself?” and Mac replies “An artist can turn any scrap into a supercar” Which was Rav’s line in the final game, which to me could possibly mean that Mac was supposed to be the engineer, but his character probably didn’t work for that role so they instead used Rav.

One thing though, Rav says (and directly quoting him) "An artist can turn any pile of scrap into a supercar". So part of the line changed.

I think, they already working on Rav Character, because in july we was already have heard his voice in customization trailer. The idea about Mac was scarped after E3 i guess. Or... As you can see, in reveal trailer we can see a piece of intro cutscene(team at safehouse) with Lina. So, we can to assume that the cutscene was already finished at this moment. In the same cutscene in the game, we'll see Rav. It turns out that in the starting race the Mac already was present, otherwise it has no logic. And this means that Mac was no longer a mechanic.... Question - Did he ever was mechanic? Who knows, maybe he was parodying Rav in some kind of removed\future dlc cutscene? (just notice - lina was have conventional clothing) broken english, plz, don't kill me

I found a crashed spaceship in Liberty Desert. I'm not kidding or trying to start a miniature meme, I saw one right in the middle of the desert in Payback. I forgot the exact location, but it's there.

Jess' hairstyle from the beta actually looks nice I assume it was changed due to being buggy because there are individual patches of hair with physics involved. in a way, a character's hairstyle has a certain personality and as a guy who plays RPGs, this is how I determine fantasy characters with their hairstyle Jess' hairstyle is rugged which is fitting for the kind of character who is a mechanic or spends most of the time on the garage etc.

Her current hair makes her look like a mom.
