So, I was looking through some developer portfolios when I found this picture of a early beta map: There was an entire cut desert district to the north-east where the "bayview east side" textures are. It was cut pretty early in development, sometime before this map was made:
Jackson Heights and Beacon Hill are almost the same on both maps. Here's them overlayed: Since the small yellow text on the map is near impossible to read, here's my guess on what's actually in the district: And the Bayview Bridge Drag Track? It was taken from this map. The curves match almost exactly as well, note that the train track runs directly beside the bridge, just like it does on the drag track: The scenery was probably changed completely to try and fit the beta bridge where the final one is, so i'm not sure if it can be analyzed, the only part maybe reused is the panorama textures to the left of the bridge:
However, if you go to the part of the outer ring highway where the bridge originally was, you have a direct view of these mountains: Which are the exact same as these mountains in the east side scenery: The bridge, mountain scenery, panorama textures and the desert floor textures are the only map leftovers from the district in the final game, it explains why the scenery is not that detailed - it was cut pretty early. It's a shame it was cut, I wonder how it would've turned out if they decided to keep it. Source: www.garthbuzzard.com/portfolio.html (Track designer and concept artist for NFSU2). There's also some other interesting things on there, early MW maps and some carbon concepts.

East Bayview here gives me NFSHP2 Outback vibes.

very interesting find! its also worth noting that the scenery of the bridge drag is screwed up. its not positioned correctly and seems like a half assed rush job. this probably explains it...

Possible final game equivalents:
Entertainment = South Market Ethnic Neighborhood = El Norte Financial = City Center Hotels = Hotel Plaza Old Town = Fort Union

Also there are quite a few other features that were cut in the final game such as the spillway, the penitentiary, the park area in Jackson heights. Pigeon park probably didn't exist when this map was made. Also the race track at the bottom left corner seems to be accessible in free roam as there's a road leading to it. Honestly, I personally think this map is much more interesting than the final.

User car lot probably refers to the regular car lots that are already in the game. As for sponsor distributor? nfs.fandom.com/wiki/Need_for_Speed:_Underground_2/SponsorsAfter each stage you get to choose a sponsor, then you have to complete a certain set of races. Maybe the "sponsor distributor" is where you would've had to drive to, to be able to select a sponsor?

Very interesting.
Also, the Carbon Concept map is very interesting as it seems to be like 1/1 to the final game.
It even shows San Juan to be a separate town. Anyone saw, there's an Airport in Kempton at the coast. Also, the panorama cities are drawn too to be just scenery.
The Rockport Map calls the scenery bridge a fake highway too, another proof it is there without any meaning except scenery.

This map is actualllyyyyy in game as it can be seen in the cutscenes after you buy the first car and meet Rachel in the safehouse... But its Modifed: At first parts of the map seemed stupid, lazily done but now it makes sense. If you compare them you see from the shores, shapes that the background layer is the same with the same area marks, channels but basicly they just slapped the final layout on it. Here you can see that the river is going in the exacly same way (just zoom on it on a new page) In my opinion, this would have made the game much more logical and fun to play, i guess time was the problem. (I will soon make a large ug2 post in its correct thread - lots of pictures)

Would have been awesome as dlc! DLC? In 2004. Imagine. DLC had been a thing for a while since then though and DLC for NFS titles had existed before even the Black Box games
