I've been making findings on the beta for a while and figured that it would be rather interesting to share. Originally there was bright versions of Neon which was looked like the final game's pulse neon before turning down A front bumper was also untextured for the other lights and was later renamed to Shadow Beta Final AND on the Ford Focus it's logo would still display unlike the final where almost all front bumpers remove the Ford logo There was also two types of Viynls the first are larger and can be mixed with small 'parts' like UG2 It was possible to install the Wide Body kits onto the two vehicles but this wouldn't give reputation stars (Only certain colors do) Reputation Earned would of been a part of the race won screen along with a cut racer name 'Mad Vlad' The Bridge on Market Street lacked barriers that could be smashed Beta Final Customizing the brakes had no visual effects on it and were car dependent Certain bumpers also made the Mitsubishi Eclipse dual exhaust The stock engine upgrade used to show the engine but was changed BETA Final Post race crowds celebrated differently and were more wild, the green coat person however was kept the same Supernova used to be entirely Carbon Fiber Now for some text based findings The car logos like Eclipse lacked their manufacturer next to it and as such the Ford Focus' beta logo was move next too it. There would of been more gamemodes such as QR_cashknockout. QR_party QR_carshow QR_smokeshow Possibly a hydraulics game mode (Or integrated into party) Smokeshow would have a applause_bar smoke_show_countdown HUD_FEATURE_SMOKE_SHOW_GAUGES Others I just got hit (in a drag race)! I just hit a wall (in a drag race)! PLAYER_MODE_AUTO_PILOT PLAYER_MODE_PILOT_ROCKET CS_MOLOTOV_COCKTAIL (Not sure if this is a leftover because of HP2 not having molotovs) Bounce Winner! Too Bad Not Bad Dope! Vehicles in the beta were Dodge Neon (Unseen) Tiburion (Unseen) Supra Celica Focus Eclipse And some odd things that froze my emulator Notice the blue stars instead of the white ones in one of my earlier screenshots?

Looks like the beta/demo version of NFSU was really unfinished lol. Even compared to NFSU2's beta. Nice finds!

Yeah, just watched some NFSU2 beta videos recently, it seems that it was a lot more finished than NFSU1's.

DRIFT!The drift hud looks like this and it's in market street. I also started without N20 and I can't gain points. A bit of a hybrid between drift and circuit since finishing first mean you win, there are also some sound effects that play during the event. Drift Psyhics work perfectly too and the AI sometimes tries to drift After finishing it more events unlocked, some as high as race 114 And also a little finding that isn't that big. The Focus has 1 bumper that makes it dual exhaust More events are also appearing that are hybrids too. This drag icon is a drag race on Market Street

Some extra findings that are on the PC version final. All of it is text. 4/3 unseen tracks. Drift Track Test Backwards - Like the test track but for drifts? Mission Smoke Show Reverse - This shows us smokeshow had its own track and had 2 options for it. Possibly more Drift Of Fish backwards - Honestly I have not much idea here. E3 Chinatown Backwards -Not too be confused with the Market Street in the beta. Used at E3 Smoke Show was avalible on quick race QUICKRACE_MOD_SMOKESHOW There were pre-race taunts, possibly the AI or the player "You stink" "Yo mamma" "Don't hurt me!^I'm full of chocolate!" "You are banana-head" (Heh Ingrish) "Watch out! I learned^to drive in Richmond!" The dream race originally had its own text, Also diferent too what Samantha said Nice Driving! Now let's see what you can do in your own car! And lastly, upgrades were required too earn more style points Upgrade your car to one star^to start earning Style Points! As for the PS2 beta. One minor thing I found playing through like 160+ races of UG mode A race that couldn't be loaded and had no entry fee or reward fee. Quite interesting

Small little updates. Nothing too big The theatre option was removed towards the final and even has a icon in the files still This is the final one And the beta one # There was originally a offset rally one but replaced Highest circuit event I can get too so far. Possibly more if I do some races in a good order Minimap changed shows the surroundings and even other tracks around you in the final Beta Final Tyres had a brand on it. Final Beta I'd also like too add in that here, we can see other tracks not seen in the beta. Along with a Dodge Neon and Hyundia Tiburon/Coupe as a AI racer. The dev also mentions being able too trade parts with your friends. Different drag race intro and a Debug Camera towards the end.

Looks like that Neon at 7:35 has a different front bumper than any of the ones it has in the final version. Can anyone confirm this? It looks alot like it'd be Blast, but I'm 95% sure the Blast bumpers on the Neon look nothing like it.

Something weird that related to some HEX EDITS I can change the AI's cars in the races by changing names of files like SUPRA1 to FOCUS1 which creates an effect like this Sometimes however it can seem to affect how the race starts, such as resetting and starting in front or behind. Both AI racers will appear identical to the car type you change it to However if I change the name of a AI racer to NEON1 or TIBURON1 (Two cars in the E3 games version. Might try to find it soon.) the racer will disappear entirely and at the end of a race appear like this. (Also a end of race NIS missing?) Also a missing vinyl that doesn't load. Cut and the files somewhere? Doing this to change race types, which I tried for sprint cause missing icons and infinite loading. Like one of the betas' event That's all for now.

I also found some interesting pictures from around the net. 1.st is the intro's chinatown scene: Early version without effects: With effects: Intro/beta eclipse, background chinatown runway: And scene from the intro (final version) 2.nd: A newer version of the PS2 Beta Menu: nothing special Safehouse: Supra (!) without brand logo and without licence plate, Beta statics-bar BUT custom spoiler Sligly tuned civic (custom rims, side skirts, bumper, BUT most interestingly is the right upside "Credits" sign And the eclipse with other brand cars That version of beta probably contains finished maps, like here is a screenshot from the finished airport construction (player has Civic, other players ride with focuses, Beta start line and Mad Vlad ) (Fact: The beta screenshots, like those below, are from this version of the beta (Full tuning, new tracks (Stadium) Newer version, now with licence plates: And finally, the youngest beta, (tuned cars, unique vinyl on skyline, but still beta startline and some advert changes) screenshots from ign: Hope you liked it

I've noticed that the three car customization photos also have the old beta logos. The stats bars though seem to be even more unique than the beta and final and that they are shorter. There was also another Celica screenshot that lacked the plates and also had another vehicle This image from the beta also shown a different mini-map for Stadium Stadium again but also uses a different font And lastly this one with a different vinyl that wasn't in the final

I think this pic is actually from NFS Underground Rivals Nah, I played that game for a long time, and I can tell you that the graphics don't look like that, neither does the hud, it's very different. For comparison, here's UG:Rivals:

That beta rally offset roof scoop you mentioned earlier, all cars in final version of the game has those boxy offset roof scoops, but if you choose the S2000 and go to roof scoops, you can see that 1 of the 2 offset roof scoop options IS THAT rally type roof scoop. A leftover?
Sorry, I don't have any pics, because I don't have UG1 anymore, but you should understand what I mean. (If not, re-read carefully)
